904L stainless steel is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel,with a chemical concentration of 19% to 23% of chromium with 23% to 28% of nickel coupled with 4-5% of molybdenum.The combination of high chromium and nickel content, coupled with additions of molybdenum and copper, provide excellent corrosion resistance.
Intended to be used for those applications which require resistance to pitting as well as corrosion, 904L is a super austenitic stainless steel grade.It has extremely strong corrosion resistance, especially in strong acid, strong alkali and high temperature environments. It performs well in chloride ion environments, and its corrosion resistance far exceeds that of traditional 18-8 stainless steel. In addition, it has good corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid and formic acid.
