SK2 Carbon Steel for Utility Knife Blades
SK2 carbon steel is one of the most well-known materials used for making utility knife blades.SK2 is a type of high-carbon steel that is commonly used for utility knife blades. It is a Japanese steel grade known for its excellent hardness and edge retention properties.
SK2 steel is a cold stamping die steel with high hardness, good wear resistance, medium toughness and good machinability. It is suitable for the manufacture of turning tools, milling cutters, drill bits, reamers, scrapers, gauges and cold cut edges with small cross-section. Tools such as molds, punching dies, and metal saw blades.

SK2 Carbon Steel Details
SK2 steel is a high carbon steel, with a carbon content of between 1.3% and 1.5%, making it harder and more resistant to wear and tear. This also makes it a great choice for blades that are subjected to heavy use, such as those found in crafting, woodworking, and construction.
Another factor that makes SK2 steel such a popular choice for utility knife blades is its resistance to corrosion. This is due to the presence of chromium in the steel, which helps to prevent rust and other forms of oxidation from forming on the blade. As a result, blades made from SK2 steel are less prone to damage from exposure to moisture and other environmental factors.

SK2 steel is often heat-treated to enhance its hardness and toughness, resulting in a blade that can withstand heavy cutting tasks and maintain its cutting edge over time. It is widely used in various utility knives and cutting tools due to its combination of hardness, edge retention, and affordability.
SK2 Steel Application
1. Dies for drawing, stretch form, burnishing, and others.
2. Dies with the small size, simple design, light loading, such as small punch, hand shear, etc.
3. Dies for small production and impact resistance.
