321 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel with addition of titanium.Due to the titanium, 321 stainless steel can effectively control the formation of chromium carbide in high temperature environments which range from 800 to 1500°F (427 to 816°C),thereby preventing intergranular corrosion. In addition, 321 stainless steel also has good corrosion resistance, especially in oxidizing media.
321 alloy has higher creep and stress rupture properties than 304 and 304L. 321 is commonly used for applications with prolonged service in the 800–1500°F temperature range.321 steel cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working.321 stainless steel can be made into various product forms:round, square, hexagonal and flat bars; welded or seamless pipes; hot-rolled or cold-rolled plates and sheets; forged bars, etc.
