317L alloy is a molybdenum-based austenitic stainless steel with high resistance to corrosion.317L stainless steel has a better corrosion resistance to chemical than traditional grade 304 chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels. In addition, compared with traditional stainless steel, 317L steel has higher ductility, stress corrosion crackling resistance, compressive strength and high temperature resistance,also has improved corrosion resistance over 304L and 316L stainless steels.
317L is a molybdenum bearing, low carbon content "L" grade corrosion-resistant austenitic Stainless Steel that provides enhanced resistance to pitting and stress corrosion crackling due to its higher molybdenum content.The low carbon provides resistance to sensitization during welding and other thermal processes.
