The "L" in stands for "Low," indicating a lower carbon content, typically around 0.03% or lower, compared to the higher carbon content in Grade 304 stainless steel.The low carbon content in 304L minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, which helps to maintain corrosion resistance and strength in the heat-affected zones of welded joints.
