201 stainless plate is a low-nickel, high-manganese stainless steel that contains a combination of elements, including chromium, nickel, and nitrogen. Stainless 201 has a lower nickel content compared to other stainless steels, which makes it more cost-effective and a suitable alternative for applications that do not require high corrosion resistance.
The composition of 201 stainless plate differs from the Grade 304, which consists of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Instead, 201 stainless steel contains 16%-18% chromium, 3.5%-5.5% nickel, and 0.08% carbon.SS201 material is a lower cost alternative to Cr-Ni stainless steels such as 301 and 304.
The corrosion resistance of grade 201 is similar to that of 304 stainless steel, but under some specific conditions, its corrosion resistance may be slightly inferior to that of 304 stainless steel.201 steel is also more resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting corrosion than 304 stainless steel.
