By adding titanium to the steel, 321 stainless activates the chromium in the alloy, making it more resistant to intergranular corrosion in high-temperature applications.This is a form of corrosion that occurs along grain boundaries, due to the formation of precipitates during high-temperature exposure.Therefore,321 steel exhibits great resistance to intergranular corrosion.
