201 stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel alloy with 16-18% chromium, 3.5-5.5% nickel and low carbon content. Small amounts of manganese, silicon and nitrogen are also present. Grade 201 stainless steel is an austenitic metal because it is non-magnetic stainless steel that contains high levels of chromium and nickel and low levels of carbon.
