17-4PH alloy is a precipitation-hardening, martensitic stainless steel composed of copper and niobium,as well as chromium and nickel.17-4 PH stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, hardness (up to 300℃/572℉),and high strength,is the most common of the PH alloys, and considered to have the best weldabilty.
After heat treatment, the mechanical properties are further optimized and yield strength up to 1100-1300 MPa (160-190 ksi) can be achieved. 17-4 PH Stainless cannot be used above 300℃ (572℉) or at very low temperatures.In addition,17-4 ph steel has good resistance to atmospheric corrosion or in diluted acid salts,which is equivalent to garde 304 or 430.
