SUS316 is a grade of stainless steel that contains 18% chromium and 12% nickel, along with molybdenum, which contributes to its resistance against corrosive environments. The addition of molybdenum also enhances the strength and hardness of 316 steel, making it ideal for use in harsh conditions.
Compared to SUS304, another popular grade of stainless steel, SUS316 offers better corrosion resistance.The reason is the higher content of molybdenum, which makes the steel highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments.
