Electropolishing is also known as electrochemical polishing or electrolytic polishing,is an electrochemical finishing process in which metal undergoes a special anodic treatment in an electrolytic solution to obtain a smooth and bright surface. The electropolishing process can achieve an extremely bright finish on the surface of steel pipes, eliminating burrs, oxide layers and other impurities on the surface of the pipe, making the surface as smooth as a mirror and showing a bright metallic luster.
Electropolishing is also an effective process for deburring metal parts. Because electropolishing removes surface metal from a part, it eliminates burrs on the surface, as well. This process is frequently used for deburring delicate or intricate parts, and it is effective on a variety of metals regardless of their hardness.
Stainless steel electropolished tubing (EP tubing) is a product processed from bright annealed tubing (BA tubing) by electropolishing the internal surface,which is critical for extreme cleanliness, attained through a decontamination and passivation process.
