This alloy 316 steel is well-suited for use in harsh conditions. It also possesses favorable work hardening characteristics and is non-magnetic.
The presence of molybdenum is also what make 316 stainless steel different from other grades. This element enhances the 316 pipe resistance to corrosion in harsh environments, such as exposure to chloride ions, making it ideal for use in marine applications.
