GI Steel Coil, or galvanized steel coil, refers to a steel product coated with a layer of zinc on the surface of ordinary carbon steel coils by hot dipping or electroplated to enhance corrosion resistance. Due to zinc has strong anti-oxidation properties in the air, it can effectively prevent the steel substrate from direct contact with oxygen and moisture in the air, thereby extending the service life of the steel.
Galvanized steel is produced through a metal coating process that passes cold rolled coils through a bath filled with molten zinc.This continuous hot dipping or also referred to as electro-galvanizing is the primary process that these carbon steel sheets have to go through to produce coil and galvanized sheets.This process will form a thicker zinc layer on the surface of the steel coil, providing excellent corrosion resistance.
